The Airman & Family Readiness Center (A&FRC) is the cornerstone of the Offutt AFB family support system, helping families and singles achieve readiness and enhance their quality of life. All services are free.

August Events

DITCHING THE DORMS
This class provides tips and information to prepare for your move out of the dorms.  Topics include:  financial readiness, initial cost, rent/lease, furnishing, and insurance.  Attend this class on August 1, from 8-9 a.m.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OF MILITARY PARENTS (STOMP).
Provides an understanding of the purpose of Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid, how they work together, and the challenges faced by military families who qualify for these programs.  Attend the helpful program on August 7, from 9-10 a.m.

RESUME FUNDAMENTALS FOR SPOUSES/DEPENDENTS
Looking for a job?  Attend this workshop from 1-3 p.m. on August 13.  Get helpful new information on writing a great resume.  Call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 402-294-4329 for more information and registration.

PARENTING WITH LOVE AND LOGIC
This program is known as parenting with love and logic providing simple and easy-to-use techniques to help parents have more fun and less stress while raising responsible kids of all ages.  Attend this parenting workshop on August 14, from 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m.  Call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 402-294-4329 for more information and registration.

A SALUTE TO SMART INVESTING
This program explains the keys to financial success useful to beginner or veteran investors and provides an overview of savings, using credit wisely, basic investing strategies, types of fraud, and danger signs that all investors should be aware of.  Attend this program on August 15, from 1 to 4 p.m.

SMOOTH MOVE RELOCATION FAIR
This program gives members with PCS orders the opportunity to receive personalized information from primary agencies to assist with a “Smooth Move.”  Agencies attending are Airman and Family Readiness Center, Finance, TRICARE, Housing, Transportation Management Office, Rising View, Vet Clinic, Exceptional Family Members Program, and School Liaison.  This fair will be on August, at 12:30-1:30 p.m.

HOME BUYING WORKSHOP
Are you considering buying a home?  Do you understand the advantages and disadvantages?  Can you afford it?  Where do you start with credit and financing, and what does it take to get a home loan?  For these answers, attend this workshop from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. on August 16.  Call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 402-294-4329 for more information and registration.

CAR BUYING STRATEGIES
Are you planning to buy a car soon?  What can you afford and what style car is best for you?  For answers to these questions and more, attend our Car Buying Strategies class from 8:30-11 a.m. on August 22.  Call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 402-294-4329 for more information and registration.

INTERVIEWING WORKSHOP
Learn the basic steps to prepare for the interview and identify the types and stages of the interview process.  Attend on August 28, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

PERSONAL FINANCE 101
Learn the financial skills necessary to maintain a spending plan, use checking and savings accounts, and build or repair credit.  Class meets August 29, from 1-4 p.m.

September Events

PREVENTION AND RELATIONSHIP ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM (PREP)
Couples learn skills to improve communication, enhance intimacy, and learn to work as a team to increase happiness and decrease stress.  Meets September 6, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

BUNDLES FOR BABIES
Attend Bundles for Babies on September 10, from 9 to 11 a.m., for expectant parents in the second and third trimester.  This class covers preparing for labor and delivery, newborn appearance and behavior, basic newborn care, postpartum care, Family Advocacy’s New Parent Support Program, and programs and services available through the Airman & Family Readiness Center, and costs associated with having a baby.  Call the A&FRC at 402-294-4329 for more information and registration.

TSP MADE EASY
Provides an overview of the Blended Retirement System and Thrift Savings Plan.  This new program is offered on September 12, from 8-11 a.m.

HEART LINK
This exciting program increases spouse awareness of the mission, customs, traditions, protocol, support resources, and available services.  This program is offered on September 12, 8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m., and includes lunch and reimbursement for free childcare.  Call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 402-294-4329 for more information and registration.

SPOUSE TRANSITION ASSISTANCE AND READINESS (STAR)
This new workshop is designed for military spouses to provide valuable information and resources in preparation for their service member's transition into civilian life.  Topics/Agencies include:  Financial Impact, Survivor Benefits Plan, TMO, Legal Office, EFMP, Military & Family Life Counselor, School Liaison Officer, VA Benefits Advisor, and Tricare.  The workshop will conclude with a question and answer session with spouses who have experienced the transition process.  Scheduled for September 23, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

SPECIALIZED TRAINING OF MILITARY PARENTS (STOMP).
Provides an understanding of the purpose of future and life planning, guardianship, and wills.  Attend this helpful program on September 25, from 5-6 p.m.

3 TO GO, ACT NOW 
If you are planning to separate or retire within three years, come to this new workshop on September 26, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  Ensure you are educated and prepared to make this transition smooth.  Agencies will be available to answer your questions to include Veterans Affairs, Tricare, education, and the transition process.

FEDERAL JOB SEARCH
