Swimming Lesson Summer 2010
Splash into summer and learn how to swim! Swimming lesson registration begins in June! All swimming lessons will be 2 weeks long and will consist of 9 class days. Week one will be Monday - Friday and week two will be Monday-Thursday with Friday being a make-up day that will only be used if needed. Levels 1-3 and Parent/Tot are 30 minute classes and levels 4-6 are 45 minute classes. Lessons are available on a first come, first serve basis so register early! Cost is $30/person. Intramural Archery BBQ and Two-Person "Open" 300 Competition
Calling all archers! Come out to the base archery range at the Base Lake on July 31, 5 p.m. - dark, for a free BBQ and some shooting! The "Open" Two-Person 300 competition (20 yards) will be sponsored by Bow-Winkles Archery - prizes will be given for the top team and the individual "Best End". Youth bows will be provided by Outdoor Recreation and targets will be set up at 10 and 15 yards for the kids, so dust off your bow and arrows, bring a dessert, salad, or chips, and come out for a good time! Burgers, hot dogs and beverages will be provided. Contact Don Parks at donald.parks@offutt.af.mil to sign up. There will also be a 3D Pop-Up set up for shooters to try out, July 28 - 31, 5 - 8 p.m. - if there is enough interest, look for a late summer / early fall 3D Pop-Up league!

Bowhunter Education Class - view flyer
A free Nebraska Bowhunter Education Class will be offered at the Base Capehart Theatre August 7 & 8, 8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. This course is for anyone (ages 11+) who requires Bowhunter Education to hunt in Nebraska or other states. You must attend both sessions to be certified. To sign up, visit the Nebraska Game and Parks website, www.ngpc.state.ne.us, Bowhunter Education Classes, and enroll in class #2233. Class size is limited so register early!

Elkhorn River Overnight Canoe - cancelled due to flooding on the Elkhorn.

Dive-In Movie
Time to jump into the water! Bring your inflatable toys to the Capehart Pool on August 14, at 9 p.m., and enjoy a movie while splashing around. $3/person; must be 13 years or older and able to swim at least 12 meters, tread water for one minute, and get out of the pool without use of the ladder. Back to School Pool Hours
Back to school hours for the Capehart and Base Pools will begin August 6. The Capehart Pool’s hours of operation will be Monday - Friday 4 - 7 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 12 - 7 p.m. The Capehart Pool will be open Labor Day from 12 - 7 p.m. The Base Pool’s hours of operation will be Monday - Friday, lap swim 3 - 4 p.m. and open swim 4 - 7 p.m; Saturday and Sunday lap swim 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. and open swim 1 - 7 p.m. The Base Pool will be open Labor Day from 1 - 7 p.m. For more information, call 294-4049.

Bass Arrive on Base
The Base Lake has been restocked with Large mouth Bass from Arkansas! Stop by CAST-A-WAYS Boathouse to pick up your Nebraska fishing license, and then try your luck at the lake!

Bass fishing season is here! Owning a boat is not a requirement, there are often open seats to get in on the action OR take advantage of Equipment Rental’s new Bass Trackers at a discounted price for these tournaments. Build camaraderie by heading to the designated lake the night before to camp out, BBQ and sit around the camp fire! Annual dues are $20 and each lake winner will receive a plaque at the end of the year. Sign-ups are taken throughout the season. All DoD members are eligible.

Recreation for Dummies - view class schedule
Outdoor Recreation is offering 1 hour mini-introduction classes to outdoor sports or activities. These hands-on classes will allow you to learn the basics of outdoor activities such as camping, fishing, canoeing, and more! Attend 5 or more classes to earn your "diploma" and receive an Outdoor Rec. gift certificate valued at over $30! To register, call 294-4049.

Oak Creek Membership
Hunting and shooting enthusiasts: join the Oak Creek Sporting Club for just $20 a year! Get discounts like $5 off pheasants and chukkars, $7 off sporting clays, $10 off guided hunts, and more! Buy your membership through Equipment Rental. For more information, call 294-4049.

FamCamp
Enjoy a beautiful evening at the Base Lake with a night in your tent! Cost: $5 / night / open dry site; $16 / night / RV park (includes electric, water, and sewer). The Boathouse will be open regular hours through September 30; stop in for fishing supplies, bait, canoe or paddleboat rentals, firewood, snacks, fishing or hunting licenses, and more! FamCamp is open year-round, with limited services October 15 – April 15.

Base Lake Pavilion
The Base Lake Pavilion is newly renovated and open for your next squadron or private function! Updates include new stainless steel appliances in the self-serve kitchen, fresh paint, wood blinds, and bathroom amenities. The Pavilion accommodates up to 250 people, and has a main patio overlooking scenic Lake Offutt, as well as two additional side patios. Rentals run daily from 10 a.m. – midnight. Rental cost: $100 / squadron function; $150 / private function; $200 / off-base organization. Moderate clean-up required upon departure. Four picnic shelters are also available for $20 / day, featuring electricity, rubber-coated picnic tables, covered awnings, and access to great recreation options. Reservations may be made in person with payment in full, at the Boathouse through September 30 or at Equipment Rental through April 1.
